of Capt: Robert C.Durnford
D.S.O. 4th Hampshire Regt: and
of Rifleman Thomas Elliott
12th Batt: K.R.R.C. who were
killed in the Great War.

killed in action at Hooge in Flanders 30th July 1915 aged 30
and of
Robert Chichester Durnford D.S.O.
Captain 4th Battalion Hampshire Regiment
killed in action 21st June 1918 aged 22 buried at Resht in Persia
Eldest and youngest sons of
Richard Durnford C.B. of Hartley Wespall and Beatrice his wife
who gave their lives for country and freedom
in the Great War
They were lovely and pleasant in their lives
and in their deaths they were not divided
There is a memorial on the wall from Stratfield Turgis who's church is redundant, and there is the below brass plaque indicating this:
